So i've been accepted to California Institute of the Arts with a major in Graphic Design. Super excited to start in the fall :)

You poop, I just got my rejection letter from CalArts xD. But I got accepted to California College of the Arts, which was my first choice. It's so pricey though...

Congrats on getting into CCA! I visited there last summer, it seemed pretty awesome. Yea both are pretty expensive, but I'm just gonna freelance and hope that I can get enough so that I won't have to take student loans.

But nice job though, I hope you enjoy it there =)

thanks :)

Jealous; well good luck, what field?

graphic design. :)

California is the worst place to go to school to because of it's horrible fucking debt.

In fact my high school had to cut off a week of school just because we can't afford shit, special thanks to our governor.

well i've lived in california for a long time (and visited most of the rest of the US) and i'm not so eager to leave. it's true that california is in deep debt but i'm an optimist and i believe that i can get through school and build a life here. i'm lucky enough to have a family that is somewhat well-off and has not suffered as much as most people with this economy. They can help me through if need be.

besides, calarts is a private school that isn't funded by the government so it won't be as affected. my education will not be compromised due to the deficit and i will most likely get a great internship and perhaps a job thanks to the connections i make at calarts and in LA.

Congrats. But I don't understand your user photo. Why not use a different picture? NG isn't facebox. No one's going to give a shit what you look like if you don't have a pic up. It just makes you look really full of yourself to say "Um yeah i have a boyfriend" Just sayin. Also, A/S/L?

i like having a picture of myself. *shrug* lol, i just got sick of all the creepy guys messaging me about hooking up sometime. not trying to be weird or anything. just thought i'd take a preemptive strike.

whether or not my photo was posted, i would want to have that disclaimer. :p

Why not post a picture of your boyfriend then? With the text "um yeah i have a boyfriend" I bet everyone would leave you alone then. Can't get much more preemptive than that.

ha good idea. i might do that. :)

:D! Congrats! Good luck over there, though you won't need it, your illustrations are awesome!

Don't let art school turn you cynical!

It did me... >>

Party People in the house say WAT?

Congratz!

Maybe you'll see "AlmightyHans"

awesome, you deserve it, have fun!

Lulz, now when you say i have a boyfriend, do you really mean girlfriend? Oh, and cutting your hair that short was a better preemptive deterrent imo. Heh, so cranky at 5am before I have to go to work >.<

Gooood luck, I only know that in CA is many good art schools, like example VFS (uuuuuu)

Don't forget your wayfarers!!

Congratulations. I've looked over some of your stuff here and you've got real talent with a lot of potential. Good luck in the bright future you're sure to have.

School is for fools.

GRAPHIC DESIGN IS LIKE A FUNNEL!!

that is all you need to know.
congrats! :D

Congrats, and all... but I just can't understand going to college for art. Art is something unique that an individual creates based on their own style. All a graphic design degree will get you is thousands of dollars in debt.

If you do great work, then you will get paid for it with or without a degree. Period. You don't even get paid more if you do good work AND have a degree. Any techniques you learn in college for graphical art via computers will be obsolete by the time you graduate. Ergo, why not get a degree in something technical, as a fall-back, then pack all your extra courses in art classes (or even do a double major, if so inclined). Maybe I'm missing something, but college costs a fortune.

What you learn at art school and how it impacts your future salary will not... read: NOT... make up for the cost of actually going. Though, the same could be said for a degree in computer science; which I have. Which ends up (after school loans) earning me less money than if I had never went to college and just worked at burger king as a manager. Maybe I'm just bitter... :)

That's great! I've been looking at your stuff since about 2008, it's all fantastic. I wish you lots of success at your new school.

thanks a lot :)
